HPEA's Director Joins KPCB as a Partner
Victor Leung has officially joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) and served as a partner, the former Director and Chief Representative in China of HSBC Private Equity (Asia) Limited (HPEA) revealed to PEdaily.cn on January 4, 2011.
Boasting 10 and 5 years of experience respectively in venture investment and investment/commercial banking, Victor Leung was mainly in charge of technology investment in Chinese mainland during his service with HPEA. Before that, he worked with ING Baring and was involved in overseas listings of H-share and B-share corporations. In the past 10 years, he has involved in more than 20 investments in Asia. Successful investments include TechFaith Wireless, Actions Semiconductor and China Biodiesel.
Having introduced several heavyweights during the past half a year, KPCB announced June 2010 to engage Jonathan Wang and Enqiang Wang as the venture partner and senior advisor.
With over US$ 500 million under management and over US$ 3.5 billion under co-management with the US-based partnership fund currently, KPCB has launched its first RMB fund. Its team has ever invested in Alibaba, Baidu, China Netcom, Focus Media, etc.
